Internet Marketing for the Restaurateur

So you have decided to open up a NYC restaurant or NYC bar.  You have done all of the preparation of your menu as well as the decor of your establishment.  Now it is time to get customers to come in and enjoy your latest cocktail and tremendous dishes.  Even the very best of restaurant and bar owners need to drive customers to their business.  Some have the luxury of having been in the industry for many years and have a recipe of success.  Some believe word of mouth is the most important ingredient but for many just starting out that isn’t a luxury.  This is where internet marketing comes into place.  It may be the a significant factor on whether your business may be profitable or not.
Many people now are using their smartphones in order to find where to find a great place to eat. Whether you are in Forest Hills or the East Village many people are typing in Google or Yelp and finding great new places to eat.  They are looking at the online menu and checking reviews to see if the eatery is one that is suitable for themselves and their guests.  That is why it is important to stay up to date with your website and other social platforms in order to make it more accessible for individuals to find you.  As such, here are some tips we believe will help you establish an online presence to make hungry customers find you:
  1. Use local maps like Google Maps- You should get on the search engine results that has a map feature.  Many people that are looking for a restaurant are searching by location first.  That is why it is imperative to do so.  Google Maps is the most important of the searches as it dominates the searches.  You should also invest in Bing and Yahoo’s map directories.
  2. Make sure that your website is mobile responsive and updated- As you are aware, most searches will be done via mobile searches in the future.  That is why it is important to have your site be mobile responsive and updated often.  The reason why you would want to update your website is to inform your potential customers of any changes to your menu and any promotions that you have. Establishments do run promotions for specific occasions like Valentine’s Day or Mother’s Day.  It is important to give your customers up to date information to know so they will feel comfortable coming back to your site and finding out what you have been up to.  It is also important that you use words to describe your menu.  Optimizing your menu would allow the search engines to pick up particular foods so if somone is looking for “stuffed crabs” in Bushwick, they would be able to easiliy find your establishment.
  3. Be proactive with social media- After claiming your listing on directories like Yelp it can be a battlefield for restaurateurs.  Many people go to social media sites just to complain and rarely offer positive feedback.  It is important to stay on top of the discussion of your business in order to resolve any potential public disaster nightmares.  With respect to Yelp customers, it is helpful to ask to resolve whatever situation a customer had at your eatery and do so accordingly.  This shows customers that you do care about what is being said about your business and are attentive to the needs of the consumer.  A positive way social media can affect your business is if you ask customers to leave feedback on your Facebook page or leave a Yelp review.  In order to make it easier for customers to complete these tasks is by making it simple by giving a discount such as a free drink if they leave a review or leaving information on the bottom of their receipt.  We have found giving out something for a discount or free works better however.
Internet marketing for restaurant and bars is a challenge for many and shouldn’t be marginalized.  The consumers of the present and future are using technology to find what they want and will do so with a flash or with a quick search.  It is important that your business stay on top of the latest trends in the food service industry.

Transparency in Digital Marketing for Law Firms

Most digital marketing agencies that concentrate on law firms prefer to treat their clients like uninformed toddlers.  They also like to bewildered their attorneys about the entire process.  Meaning that they go out of their way to make it seem difficult to comprehend what is needed in order to increase rankings and visibility online.  Considering that most clients are only interested in generating more revenue and attorneys have little time to want to learn the technical aspect of SEO and SEM work, the agencies want firms to just give up and allow them to do whatever is needed to increase visibility.  Here at Falcon Consulting & Marketing that is not our policy.  We appreciate when our clients are as thoroughly educated and understand what they are investing in.  That way the client understands what it entails to initiate an online marketing campaign and be informed of the process if they decide to shop around for another digital marketing agency in the future.
At Falcon Consulting & Marketing, we believe in a total transparent environment. What this means is that we share an openness with the work being performed on the law firm’s marketing campaign with the our attorneys. We take advice from our lawyers on what is important to them and market their firm accordingly.  Below are three items you should look for from your digital marketing agency:
What is Your Strategy?
You should always ask what is their process in increasing the firm’s visibility.  What are the agency’s use of content marketing, link-building and Web 2.0?   What is the expectation of increasing rankings and how are they going to maintain the website’s status.  Do they use local SEO tactics and should you be concerned with issues that may penalize the website?  Also you should ask for work that was done previously.  That would give you an idea of what to expect in the future.
Monthly Reporting
Law firms are interested in results.  In order to get results one must do the work to get there.  You should always ask for monthly reports to see what is being performed on a monthly basis.  Also, you should have access to Google Analytics.  Google Analytics allows you to track many metrics. You can monitor the effectiveness of your online marketing strategies, onsite content, user experience, and device functionality.
Monthly meetings (in person 0r virtual)
Once you get the report from your internet marketing specialists, it is time to decipher it.  You will want the agency to break it down to you in a non-technical way.  An agency pursuing transparency will schedule regular review calls depending on your availability. They will update on changes in the industry and how it will affect your marketing campaign.  Also, a competent SEO professional will give you feedback on what should improve and their overall plan on getting the results you hired them for.  They should also discuss with you where the firm is heading.  An example would be incorporating additional content marketing should you decide to enter into a new field of law or would like to fully concentrate on an existing one.

Internet marketing doesn’t have to be a technically frightening endeavor.  You should always seek clarity and made part of the process with your online marketing agency.  If you are interested in growing your practice and see how you can generate more revenue for your firm then Falcon Consulting & Marketing is the digital marketing agency for you.  We are a NYC digital marketing agency assisting businesses one at a time.    Call 855-445-9530 for a free consultation for your law firm.

Local SEO and SEM Marketing for Attorneys

When it’s time to call a lawyer, the majority of  people turn to the Internet to find the information they want. Besides referrals, which are the bread and butter for most law firms, internet marketing has become a key marketing strategy.  For the younger law firms and attorneys, local SEO and SEM is the best avenue for marketing.  The first thing clients look for is high-quality attorney web site design that contains plenty of knowledgeable information and an inviting look and feel.  If you specialize in a particular field of law, you should always try to be as specific with reference to statutes and code that are commonly used.  Also putting up a video or articles in your particular field seems to work tremendously as well.
A successful  legal web site must be first of all accessible to people who are searching.  It is necessary to be ranked high in the ranking and for people to see your law firm before the local competition.
Here are more little steps that can be done in order to drive traffic to your website and convert the leads into high-paying clients.
The first step to starting a local SEO campaign is for your law firm is to create a Google Business Page.  If you’ve ever searched Google for a local business, you’ve probably seen the results at the very top of the page, listing several nearby businesses along with their phone numbers, websites, and their locations on a map. Local businesses are usually the first that potential clients would contact.
The data in these search results comes from your Google My Business page, so filling it out is a critical step in your local SEO efforts. Here are some tips to optimize your law firm’s listing in Google:
  • Include a long, keyword rich description of your law practice and the types of services you provide
  • Upload as many photos as possible
  • Choose the correct categories for your law practice
  • Include a local phone number
  • Include a link to your website
  • Include your complete address, in the exact same format as you have it listed on your website (more on this later)
  • Make sure the info is accurate and always kept up to date
Once you’ve created your Google listing, Google also provides some helpful stats on how many website visits you get from it, how many people call you by directly clicking the phone number you have listed, how many reviews you’re getting, and more.
The next thing to focus on in your local SEO campaign is optimizing your law firm website. You want to add local keyword data to each and every page so that Google knows your website is for a local business.

For example, if you are a patent attorney in New York City, you should use the words “New York City patent attorney” and similar terms strategically across key areas of your website.
Google naturally favors the websites of companies that use Google tools, and one of them which has become very important to local SEO is Google Reviews. So building up some positive, authentic customer reviews on your Google My Business page is the next step in our guide on local SEO for law firms.  Google reviews as well as reviews from third party review sites such as Yelp, Avvo, Yellowbook, Foursquare all will help with your statistics.
Positive reviews are not only good for SEO, they’re also a great way to establish credibility for your firm. Testimonials from happy clients provide social proof that you are a quality service provider worthy of consideration, and that’s why showing off your reviews are an important step.
Lawyers are very busy by the nature of the professional.  Also, the retention of clients that actually pay the bills instead of paying a retainer and having the attorney or law firm pay for the rest of litigation has been more of a problem than ever in the profession.  That is why you would need the most amount of prospective clients in order to determine who you should take on.  It will make you law firm more profitable in the end and you will have a better piece of mind.  Local SEO is a powerful marketing strategy for small businesses that target customers in their area.
